Human Anatomy Physiology I

Anatomy and physiology are two of the most basic terms and areas of study in the life sciences. Anatomy refers to the internal and external structures of the body and their physical relationships, whereas physiology refers to the study of the functions of those structures.

Pathophysiology

Pathophysiology (or physiopathology) is a branch of study, at the intersection of pathology and physiology, concerning disordered physiological processes that cause, result from, or are otherwise associated with a disease or injury. Pathology is the medical discipline that describes conditions typically observed during a disease state, whereas physiology is the biological discipline that describes processes or mechanisms operating within an organism. Pathology describes the abnormal or undesired condition, whereas pathophysiology seeks to explain the functional changes that are occurring within an individual due to a disease or pathologic state

Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry I – Theory

This subject deals with classification and nomenclature of simple organic compounds, structural isomerism, intermediates forming in reactions, important physical properties, reactions and methods of preparation of these compounds. The syllabus also emphasizes on mechanisms and orientation of reactions.

Human Anatomy Physiology II

Microbiology

Microbiology is the study of the biology of microscopic organisms - viruses, bacteria, algae, fungi, slime molds, and protozoa. The methods used to study and manipulate these minute and mostly unicellular organisms differ from those used in most other biological investigations.

Industrial Pharmacy I

Course enables the student to understand and appreciate the influence of pharmaceutical additives and various pharmaceutical dosage forms on the performance of the drug product. Know the various pharmaceutical dosage forms and their manufacturing techniques.

The subject emphasizes on structure activity relationships of drugs, importance of physicochemical properties and metabolism of drugs. The syllabus also emphasizes on chemical synthesis of important drugs under each class.

According to the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), the practice of pharmacy involves the: Interpretation, evaluation and implementation of medical orders. Dispensing of prescription drugs. Participation in the selection of drugs and medical devices.

Pharmacology II

Pharmacology II will introduce students to advanced concepts related to drug action, including descriptions of antagonist activity, partial and inverse agonists, allosteric modulators and biased ligands.

Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics

Biopharmaceutics deals with the study of physiochemical and physiological factors that influence the liberation and absorption of drugs from different dosage forms. Pharmacokinetics deals with the absorption, distribution, metabolismn and excretion of a drug; the study of drug response is known as pharmacodynamics.

Physical Pharmaceutics-II

This subject deals with the study of various types of dispersion systems, the flow behaviour and law of flow of fluids, elasticity and plasticity in solids, suspensions, emulsions, the flow behaviour of solids or powders, the stability of drugs and methods to stabilize Pharmaceutical Formulations etc.
