The first semester of the MCA programme is designed to establish a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles of computer applications and information technology. Students gain knowledge of programming concepts, algorithms, problem-solving approaches, and computational techniques through programming-oriented courses. The semester also introduces computer organisation and architecture, enabling learners to understand the internal structure and functioning of computer systems. Discrete mathematics develops the mathematical and logical foundations essential for computing, algorithm development, and computational analysis. Database Management Systems provide an understanding of data organisation, storage, retrieval, and management, while Operating Systems introduce the concepts of process management, memory management, file systems, and resource allocation. Practical laboratory sessions complement theoretical learning by providing hands-on experience in programming and database operations.
